CrossFit Total: Then and Now

This month marks my two-year anniversary since I started CrossFit. Fittingly, I had a chance to test how far my fitness has come since then by performing the CrossFit Total this past Friday.

According to the CrossFit Journal, the CrossFit Total reflects an athlete’s functional strength capacity more accurately than any other test. It is the sum of the best of three attempts at the squat, the press, and the deadlift.

The first time I did the Total on 1/2/12 I got the following scores:

Back Squat: 130
Press: 70
Deadlift: 170
TOTAL: 370

On Friday 11/8/13 when I did the Total I got the following scores:

Back Squat: 180
Press: 85
Deadlift: 255
TOTAL: 520

I was really happy with my scores, and it felt really great to see how far I have come. According to CrossFit’s Basic Strength Standards, all of my lifts put me in the Advanced-Elite level for my body weight of 130 pounds. Not too shabby!
